Tlabane Mall in Rustenburg, South Africa, faced a multifaceted challenge in their water management system. The primary issue was monitoring and controlling the domestic water tank levels within the mall. The existing system lacked the capability to automatically refill the water tank when it reached critically low levels. This inefficiency not only risked water scarcity but also impacted the overall functionality of the mall. Additionally, there was a need for a more sophisticated system to monitor water consumption across over 93 individual retail outlets within the mall. The goal was to enable precise billing, ensuring each shop was charged accurately and fairly for their specific water usage, thereby streamlining operational costs and promoting sustainable water usage.
THE SOLUTION
IoT-based Diesel Water Control and Monitoring System
Our IoT-based Diesel Water Control and Monitoring System provided a comprehensive solution to these challenges. We implemented advanced sensors to continuously monitor the water level in the mall's reserve tank. These sensors were integrated into an IoT platform that enabled remote and automatic actuation of a pump to refill the water tank whenever levels were low. This automated system ensured a constant water supply, improving the mall's operational efficiency and sustainability.
Furthermore, we deployed sophisticated water consumption monitoring devices in each of the 93 shops. These devices were connected to our IoT network, providing real-time data on water usage. The data was processed and analyzed to generate accurate, individualized billing for each shop. This not only ensured fair billing practices but also encouraged responsible water usage among the tenants.
